Horace’s Bio

Daily prayers and reflections, grounded in love and filled with hope

Horace McMillon is the creator of 60 Seconds of Hope, a daily devotional series and podcast offering brief prayers and reflections for everyday life. His writing speaks to those seeking a faith that is accessible, rooted in love, and open to hope—especially in moments of waiting, uncertainty, and renewal.

With a pastoral heart and a practical voice, Horace writes for people who desire a deeper connection with God while navigating full and demanding lives. Each reflection is intentionally concise, creating space to pause, reflect, and return to what matters most.

Horace earned his BA from Oberlin College with an emphasis in Religion and Philosophy and his MA in Theology from Chicago Theological Seminary. He also completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPSP) through Baptist Health Systems.

In 2024, Horace launched Community of Hope and serves as its director. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mennonite Mission Network. Previously, Horace spent 22 years in pastoral ministry, including 17 years as senior pastor of Open Door Mennonite Church in Jackson, Mississippi, and five years as associate pastor of Community Mennonite Church in Markham, Illinois. He holds ordinations in both the Missionary Baptist and Anabaptist traditions.

Horace is a “tentmaking” minister, meaning that he and his wife of nearly 30 years both work full-time to provide for their family while continuing their shared commitment to ministry.

At the heart of Horace’s work is a simple hope: to help people live more fully in the love of God and experience the depth and possibility of that love in this life and beyond.

This is the work—to equip, empower, and inspire.
